Kepler-867 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-867 is a star located 3900 light-years away, and it hosts exactly one planet. The star is estimated to be 5.89 billion years old, with a mass of 0.92 solar masses, a radius of 0.91 solar radii, and a temperature of 5540 K. Its mass and radius are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The single planet is Kepler-867 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the observed brightness; repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period. Kepler-867 b completes one orbit every 150 days and has a radius of 4.64 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. That radius exceeds four times Earth's radius, placing it in the Jupiter-like size class.
