Kepler-866: A Cool Dwarf and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-866 is a star 2110 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 4.27 billion years old, has 0.75 solar masses and 0.71 solar radii, and a temperature of 4750 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's.

The single planet, Kepler-866 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-866 b orbits every 2.62 days and has a radius of 1.63 Earth radii, making it a Super-Earth and larger than Earth.
