Kepler-858 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-858 is a star 974 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 3.39 billion years old, has 0.96 solar masses and 0.91 solar radii, and has a temperature of 5650 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and it is cooler than the Sun.

The planet Kepler-858 b is Jupiter-like, discovered by transit in 2016. It orbits Kepler-858 every 76.1 days and has a radius of 4.87 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.
