Kepler-851 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-851 is a single-star system 2740 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The host star is 4.47 billion years old, with a mass of 0.89 solar masses and a radius of 0.85 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 5460 K, cooler than the Sun's, and both its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's.

The system's only listed planet is Kepler-851 b, a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, dimming the star's light. Kepler-851 b orbits every 8.51 days, and its radius of 1.68 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. That radius places it in the Super-Earth size class, which extends to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
