Kepler-849 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-849 is a star 2680 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The star is 4.7 billion years old and has a mass of 1.26 solar masses, putting it above the Sun in mass, while its radius of 1.82 solar radii is likewise larger than the Sun's. Its temperature of 5950 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The one planet circling Kepler-849 is Kepler-849 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 395 days and has a radius of 8.08 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its mass of 299 Earth masses is also larger than Earth's.
