Kepler-742 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-742 is a star located 1600 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 2.57 billion years old, has a mass of 0.76 solar masses, a radius of 0.71 solar radii, and a temperature of 4640 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-742 b was discovered by transit in 2016, when it passed in front of its star from our viewpoint and caused a small dip in observed brightness. It is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 3.24 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes one orbit every 8.36 days.
