Kepler-738 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-738 is a star located 3630 light-years away, with a single known planet in its system. The host star is estimated to be 4.57 billion years old and has a mass of 0.86 solar masses, a radius of 0.82 solar radii, and a temperature of 5330 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The one known planet, Kepler-738 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-738 b completes an orbit every 24.6 days and has a radius of 2.5 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It is a Neptune-like planet, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius.
