Kepler-724 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-724 is a star located 2780 light-years away. It has an age of 4.37 billion years, a mass of 0.9 solar masses, and a radius of 0.86 solar radii. Its temperature is 5440 K, cooler than the Sun. One planet has been found orbiting this star.

Kepler-724 b is a Neptune-like planet discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-724 b completes an orbit every 3.31 days, and its radius is 3.29 Earth radii. That radius is larger than Earth's, and it places the planet in the Neptune-like class, which extends to 4 times Earth's radius.
