Kepler-701 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-701 is a star located 2520 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 4.47 billion years old, with a mass of 0.88 solar masses, a radius of 0.84 solar radii, and a temperature of 5340 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-701 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-701 b completes an orbit every 10.4 days and has a radius of 2.84 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. As a Neptune-like planet, it falls within the size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius.
