Kepler-685 and Its Giant Planet

Kepler-685 is a star 3060 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The star is 3.39 billion years old and has a mass of 1.11 solar masses, a radius of 1.16 solar radii, and a temperature of 5960 K, making it more massive, larger, and hotter than the Sun.

The planet Kepler-685 b is classified as Jupiter-like. It was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star dims the star's light slightly from our viewpoint. The planet orbits every 1.63 days and has a radius of 10.6 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's.

Jupiter-like planets exceed 4 times Earth's radius.
