Kepler-667: A Distant Star With One Known Planet

Kepler-667 is a star located 7510 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.91 solar masses and a radius of 0.87 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's corresponding values, and its temperature of 5330 K is cooler than the Sun's. The star is 4.68 billion years old. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-667 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-667 b completes an orbit every 41.4 days and has a radius of 4.73 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
