Kepler-664 b: A Neptune-Like World in a Distant System

Kepler-664 is a star located 3950 light-years away. It has 1.01 solar masses, 1.02 solar radii, a temperature of 5750 K, and an age of 4.68 billion years. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet is Kepler-664 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-664 b completes an orbit every 2.53 days and has a radius of 2.66 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's. Planet size classes compare radius with Earth's: a Neptune-like planet reaches 4 times Earth's radius.
