Kepler-661 and Its Lone Known Planet

Kepler-661 is a star 1740 light-years away with one planet in its system. The host star is estimated to be 4.27 billion years old. Its mass is 0.7 solar masses, its radius is 0.67 solar radii, and its temperature is 4480 K. The star's reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The one known planet orbiting this star is Kepler-661 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-661 b completes an orbit every 6.03 days. Its radius is 3.07 Earth radii, a reported radius estimate larger than Earth's.
