Kepler-649 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-649 is a star 1680 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is 2.95 billion years old and has a mass of 0.97 solar masses. Its radius of 0.94 solar radii is smaller than the Sun's, while its temperature of 5870 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The single planet, Kepler-649 b, is a Super-Earth discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-649 b orbits with a period of 29.9 days and has a radius of 2.26 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. In size classification, a Super-Earth reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius.
