Kepler-634 b: A Super-Earth in a Close Orbit

Kepler-634 is a star located 2900 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 5.37 billion years old, with a mass of 1.03 solar masses and a radius of 1.24 solar radii, making its reported radius estimate larger than the Sun's. Its temperature is 6080 K, hotter than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet, Kepler-634 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-634 b completes an orbit every 5.17 days, and its reported radius estimate is 1.89 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it in the Super-Earth size class, which compares radius with Earth's and reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
