Kepler-63 is a star 633 light-years from Earth with a spectral type of G5, a Sun-like classification. Its reported measurements include an age of 0.21 billion years, a mass of 0.984 solar masses, a radius of 0.901 solar radii, and a temperature of 5580 K. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.
That planet is Kepler-63 b, discovered in 2013 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. It is classified as Jupiter-like, a size class for planets larger than four times Earth's radius. Kepler-63 b has a reported upper limit of 120 Earth masses, a radius of 6.11 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 9.43 days. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
