Kepler-616: A Star and Its Three Planets

Kepler-616 is a star located 3080 light-years away with three planets orbiting it. The star has a mass of 0.98 solar masses and a radius of 0.97 solar radii. Its temperature is 5750 K and its age is 3.89 billion years.

The three planets were all found by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it. Kepler-616 b is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.43 Earth radii and an orbital period of 10 days. Kepler-616 c is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 3.41 Earth radii and an orbital period of 90.4 days. Kepler-616 d, also Neptune-like, has a radius of 2.65 Earth radii and an orbital period of 51.1 days.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-616 b has the shortest year by reported estimates, while Kepler-616 c has the longest and the largest radius. Kepler-616 d has the second-shortest year and the second-smallest radius. Kepler-616 b has the smallest radius of the three. Each planet's reported radius is larger than Earth's.
