Kepler-590 and Its Jupiter-Like Planet

Kepler-590 is a star 4640 light-years away with an age of 3.55 billion years, a mass of 1.1 solar masses, a radius of 1.15 solar radii, and a temperature of 6000 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-590 b, a Jupiter-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-590 b completes an orbit every 5.85 days and has a radius of 4.02 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its radius places it in the Jupiter-like size class.
