Kepler-574 and Its Super-Earth

Kepler-574 is a star 2230 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 0.95 solar masses, a radius of 0.91 solar radii, and a temperature of 5610 K. Its reported mass estimate is smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-574 b, was discovered by the transit method in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-574 b orbits its star every 7.66 days and is classified as a Super-Earth. Its radius is 2.39 Earth radii, and its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
