Kepler-572 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-572 is a star 1650 light-years away with one known planet in orbit around it. The host star is 4.68 billion years old and has a mass of 0.83 solar masses, a radius of 0.79 solar radii, and a temperature of 5210 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-572 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint. Kepler-572 b has an orbital period of 17.2 days and a radius of 2.58 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and its size places it in the Neptune-like class, which reaches 4 times Earth's radius.
