Kepler-554 and Its Close-Orbiting Giant

Kepler-554 is a star located 2250 light-years away. It has a mass of 0.93 solar masses and a radius of 0.92 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. Its temperature is 5450 K, cooler than the Sun's, and it is 5.62 billion years old. One planet orbits this star.

That planet, Kepler-554 b, is a Jupiter-like world, a size class that exceeds 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 4.29 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It completes an orbit in 1.9 days. It was discovered by transit, the method in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness.
