Kepler-540 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-540 is a star located 1,270 light-years away. It is 4.9 billion years old, has a mass of 1.02 solar masses, and a radius of 1.08 solar radii. Its temperature of 5,950 K is hotter than the Sun's. One planet has been found orbiting this star.

That planet is Kepler-540 b, a Neptune-like world discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its radius of 2.71 Earth radii is larger than Earth's, and it completes one orbit every 173 days.
