Kepler-533 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-533 is a star located 988 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 3.24 billion years old and has a mass of 0.78 solar masses, a radius of 0.72 solar radii, and a temperature of 4760 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding values.

The planet Kepler-533 b was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-533 b is Neptune-like, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius is 3.38 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it completes an orbit every 28.5 days.
