Kepler-512 and Its Solitary Planet

Kepler-512 is a single-star system 1520 light-years away. The host star has a mass of 1.17 solar masses, a radius of 1.3 solar radii, a temperature of 6000 K, and an age of 3.72 billion years. Its reported mass estimate is larger than the Sun's, its reported radius estimate is larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's.

One planet orbits this host. Kepler-512 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-512 b is a Neptune-like planet, a size class that reaches 4 times Earth's radius. It has an orbital period of 34.4 days and a radius of 2.69 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
