Kepler-506 b: A Neptune-Like World in a One-Planet System

Kepler-506 is a star located 745 light-years from Earth, with a single known planet in orbit. The host star is estimated to be 1.74 billion years old, with a mass of 1.19 solar masses and a radius of 1.19 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 6240 K.

The one known planet, Kepler-506 b, is classified as Neptune-like and was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-506 b completes an orbit every 6.88 days and has a radius of 2.73 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
