Kepler-475 b: A Super-Earth in Transit

Kepler-475 is a star located 913 light-years away, with one known planet in orbit around it. The star is 2.69 billion years old, with a mass of 0.86 solar masses and a radius of 0.79 solar radii. Its temperature is 5010 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are each smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-475 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness. Its orbital period is 3.11 days. With a radius of 2.49 Earth radii, it is classified as a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
