Kepler-472 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-472 is a star located roughly 1,000 light-years away. It hosts one known planet and has an age of 2.69 billion years, a mass of 0.85 solar masses, a radius of 0.78 solar radii, and a temperature of 5000 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The system's only listed planet is Kepler-472 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness, and repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-472 b completes an orbit in 4.18 days and has a radius of 3.22 Earth radii; that radius is larger than Earth's. As a Neptune-like planet, it falls within the size class that reaches up to four times Earth's radius.
