Kepler-464 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-464 is a star 2180 light-years away with one known planet. The host star is estimated to be 4.9 billion years old and has a mass of 1.21 solar masses, a radius of 1.59 solar radii, and a temperature of 5930 K. Its reported mass, radius, and temperature estimates are each larger or hotter than the Sun's corresponding values.

The planet Kepler-464 b was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-464 b completes an orbit every 7.26 days and has a radius of 3.3 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Its Neptune-like class places it within the radius range of that size category, which extends to 4 times Earth's radius.
