Kepler-450 and Its Three-Planet System

Kepler-450 is a star located 1490 light-years away. It is 3.02 billion years old and has a mass of 1.3 solar masses, a radius of 1.56 solar radii, and a temperature of 6260 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is hotter than the Sun's. Three planets orbit this host.

Kepler-450 b, Kepler-450 c, and Kepler-450 d were all discovered by transit in 2015. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods.

Kepler-450 b is Jupiter-like, with an orbital period of 28.5 days and a radius of 6.14 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the longest year and the largest radius by reported estimates.

Kepler-450 c is Neptune-like, with an orbital period of 15.4 days and a radius of 2.62 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the second-shortest year and the second-smallest radius by reported estimates.

Kepler-450 d is a Sub-Earth, with an orbital period of 7.51 days and a radius of 0.837 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than Earth's, and among the listed planets it has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates.
