Kepler-424 is a star 2280 light-years away with two known planets. The star has a mass of 1.01 solar masses, a radius of 0.94 solar radii, and a temperature of 5460 K. Its radius is smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.
Both planets were discovered in 2014. Kepler-424 b is a Jupiter-like planet found by the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet crosses in front of it. It has a mass of 327 Earth masses, a radius of 9.98 Earth radii, and an orbital period of 3.31 days. Its radius and mass are larger than Earth's, and its mean density is 1.81 g/cm³, 0.329 times Earth's.
Kepler-424 c was found by the radial velocity method, which measures the wobble a planet's gravity induces in its star. It has a minimum mass of 2220 Earth masses and an orbital period of 223 days. That minimum mass is larger than Earth's and is roughly 6.97 times Jupiter's mass. Among the listed planets, Kepler-424 b has the shortest year by reported estimates, at 3.31 days, while Kepler-424 c has the longest, at 223 days.
