Kepler-382 and Its Two Known Planets

Kepler-382 is a star located 3050 light-years away. It has an age of 4.37 billion years, a mass of 0.88 solar masses, a radius of 0.85 solar radii, and a temperature of 5440 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Two planets are known to orbit this host.

Kepler-382 b and Kepler-382 c were both discovered by transit in 2014. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-382 b is classified as Earth-like, with a radius of 1.32 Earth radii and an orbital period of 5.26 days. Kepler-382 c is classified as a Super-Earth, with a radius of 1.59 Earth radii and an orbital period of 12.2 days. Among the listed planets, Kepler-382 b has the shortest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates, while Kepler-382 c has the longest year and the largest radius.
