Kepler-291 and Its Two Super-Earths

Kepler-291 is a star 5830 light-years away with two planets orbiting it: Kepler-291 b and Kepler-291 c. The star is 4.37 billion years old, with a mass of 0.9 solar masses, a radius of 0.87 solar radii, and a temperature of 5540 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler.

Both planets were found by transit in 2014 and both are classified as Super-Earths, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Kepler-291 b has an orbital period of 3.55 days and a radius of 2.16 Earth radii, larger than Earth's and the largest among the listed planets. Kepler-291 c has an orbital period of 5.7 days and a radius of 1.88 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's and the smallest radius among the listed planets. Among these two planets, Kepler-291 b has the shortest year and Kepler-291 c the longest.
