Kepler-270 is a star located 3090 light-years away. It is 3.72 billion years old and has a mass of 1.17 solar masses, a radius of 1.35 solar radii, and a temperature of 6130 K. Its mass, radius, and temperature are all reported as larger or hotter than the Sun's. Two planets orbit this host: Kepler-270 b and Kepler-270 c.
Both planets were discovered in 2014 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Both are classified as Super-Earths, a size class that reaches up to 2.5 times Earth's radius.
Kepler-270 b has an orbital period of 11.5 days and a radius of 2.01 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the shortest year and the largest radius by reported estimates.
Kepler-270 c has an orbital period of 25.3 days and a radius of 1.77 Earth radii, also larger than Earth's. Among the listed planets, it has the longest year and the smallest radius by reported estimates.
