Kepler-254: A Distant Star with Three Small Worlds

Kepler-254 is a star located 4530 light-years away. It is 3.98 billion years old and has 0.93 solar masses, 0.9 solar radii, and a temperature of 5610 K. Its mass and radius are smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler. Three planets are known to orbit this host, all discovered by the transit method in 2014.

Kepler-254 b is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 3.87 Earth radii and an orbital period of 5.83 days. Kepler-254 c is a Super-Earth with a radius of 2.15 Earth radii and an orbital period of 12.4 days. Kepler-254 d is a Neptune-like planet with a radius of 2.5 Earth radii and an orbital period of 18.7 days. All three radii are larger than Earth's.

Among the listed planets, Kepler-254 b has the shortest year, at 5.83 days, and the largest radius, at 3.87 Earth radii. Kepler-254 c has the second-shortest year, at 12.4 days, and the smallest radius, at 2.15 Earth radii. Kepler-254 d has the longest year, at 18.7 days, and the second-smallest radius, at 2.5 Earth radii.
