Kepler-1978 and Its Lone Known Planet

Kepler-1978 is a star 2820 light-years away with one known planet in orbit. The host star has a mass of 0.875 solar masses, a radius of 0.779 solar radii, and a temperature of 5250 K. Each of these values is smaller or cooler than the Sun's corresponding property.

The system's only cataloged planet is Kepler-1978 b, a Neptune-like world discovered by transit in 2023. A transit occurs when a planet crosses in front of its star from our viewpoint, producing a small dip in brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1978 b completes an orbit every 10.8 days and has a radius of 2.67 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
