Kepler-1958 b: A Super-Earth in a Distant System

Kepler-1958 is a star located 4310 light-years from Earth. It has a mass of 0.947 solar masses, a radius of 0.855 solar radii, and a temperature of 5730 K. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet is Kepler-1958 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1958 b completes one orbit every 9.33 days and has a radius of 2.05 Earth radii. Its reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's, and as a Super-Earth it falls within the size class reaching 2.5 times Earth's radius, a classification based on radius rather than composition.
