Kepler-1953 b: An Earth-Like World Orbiting a Quiet Star

Kepler-1953 is a star located 1980 light-years away, and just one planet has been found orbiting it. The star itself is somewhat smaller and cooler than the Sun. Its mass is 0.761 solar masses and its radius is 0.72 solar radii, while its temperature is 4860 K.

The single known planet, Kepler-1953 b, is classified as Earth-like. It was discovered by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness, and its discovery was reported in 2021. The planet completes one orbit every 6.25 days. Its radius is 1.29 Earth radii, which is larger than Earth's. That radius also places it within the Earth-like size class, which includes planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
