Kepler-195: A Cool Star With Two Super-Earths

Kepler-195 is a star located 2130 light-years away. It is 4.9 billion years old, has a mass of 0.83 solar masses and a radius of 0.79 solar radii, and its temperature is 5230 K. That mass is smaller than the Sun's, as is its radius, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's. Two planets orbit this host.

Kepler-195 b and Kepler-195 c are both Super-Earths, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. Both were discovered by transit, the slight dimming of a star when a planet crosses in front of it, in 2014.

Kepler-195 b has a radius of 2.03 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and orbits once every 8.31 days. Kepler-195 c has a radius of 1.55 Earth radii and an orbital period of 34.1 days. Among the listed planets, Kepler-195 b has the shortest year and the largest radius, while Kepler-195 c has the longest year and the smallest radius.
