Kepler-1866: A Distant Star With One Known Planet

Kepler-1866 is a star located 3190 light-years away, and it has one known planet. The star has a mass of 1.13 solar masses, a radius of 1.02 solar radii, and a temperature of 6090 K, which is hotter than the Sun's. A light-year is a unit of distance.

The planet Kepler-1866 b is a Super-Earth, a size class that reaches 2.5 times Earth's radius. It was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1866 b has a radius of 2.08 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and an orbital period of 11.7 days. Earth radii compare radius, not volume.
