Kepler-1846 b: A Super-Earth Around a Cool Dwarf Star

Kepler-1846 is a star 1220 light-years away with one known planet. The star has a reported mass estimate of 0.8 solar masses, a reported radius estimate of 0.755 solar radii, and a reported temperature of 4900 K. Its mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1846 b, is classified as a Super-Earth. Astronomers discovered it in 2021 using the transit method, which detects the small dip in a star's brightness when a planet passes in front of it from our viewpoint; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1846 b completes an orbit every 14.8 days and has a radius of 1.76 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
