Kepler-1791 and Its Neptune-like Planet

Kepler-1791 is a star located 1960 light-years away, with a mass of 0.972 solar masses and a radius of 1.17 solar radii. Its reported temperature of 6220 K is hotter than the Sun's. One planet orbits this host.

That planet, Kepler-1791 b, is Neptune-like, a size classification meaning its radius reaches up to four times Earth's radius. Its radius is 3.12 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. It was discovered in 2021 by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods, and Kepler-1791 b completes one orbit every 7.72 days.
