Kepler-1738 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1738 is a star located 4250 light-years from Earth. It has a mass of 1.08 solar masses and a radius of 1 solar radii. Its reported temperature of 6060 K is hotter than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this star.

That planet, Kepler-1738 b, is Neptune-like, a size class that extends to 4 times Earth's radius. Its radius of 2.82 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. It was discovered by the transit method, in which a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint and causes a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1738 b completes an orbit every 7.67 days.
