Kepler-1718 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1718 is a star 1220 light-years away, with a mass of 1.05 solar masses, a radius of 0.933 solar radii, and a temperature of 5840 K. Its reported radius estimate is smaller than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet, Kepler-1718 b, was discovered in 2021 by the transit method. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1718 b orbits every 135 days. Its radius is 2.57 Earth radii, larger than Earth's, and it is classified as Neptune-like.
