Kepler-1717 and Its Neptune-Like Planet

Kepler-1717 is a star located 3290 light-years away. It has one known planet. The star's reported mass estimate is 1.37 solar masses, which is larger than the Sun's. Its reported radius estimate is 1.52 solar radii, also larger than the Sun's, and its reported temperature of 6590 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The planet Kepler-1717 b was discovered by transit in 2021. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness; repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1717 b completes an orbit every 30.7 days. Its radius is 2.99 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. As a Neptune-like planet, it falls within the size class that reaches four times Earth's radius.
