Kepler-1651 b: A Super-Earth in a Two-Star System

Kepler-1651 is a star system 217 light-years away. Its host star has a reported mass estimate of 0.578 solar masses and a reported radius estimate of 0.548 solar radii, both smaller than the Sun's. The star's reported temperature is 4240 K, cooler than the Sun's. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1651 b, a Super-Earth discovered in 2017 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish orbital periods. Kepler-1651 b completes an orbit every 9.88 days. Its radius is 1.84 Earth radii, larger than Earth's.
