Kepler-1629 b: A Sub-Earth Planet

Kepler-1629 is a star located 1100 light-years away, with measured mass and radius each at 1.01 solar masses and 1.01 solar radii. Its temperature is 5780 K and its age is 4.27 billion years. One planet orbits this host.

That planet is Kepler-1629 b, a Sub-Earth discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. It completes an orbit every 3.88 days and has a radius of 0.77 Earth radii, which is smaller than Earth's. A Sub-Earth is a size class for planets with a radius smaller than Earth's.
