Kepler-1591 and Its Known Planet

Kepler-1591 is a single-star system 4630 light-years away, and the star has one planet orbiting it. The host star is 3.24 billion years old and holds 1.1 solar masses within a radius of 1.16 solar radii. Its temperature of 6080 K is hotter than the Sun's.

The system's only known planet is Kepler-1591 b, an Earth-like world discovered by transit in 2016. This method detects the small dip in a star's brightness caused when a planet crosses in front of it, and repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period.

Kepler-1591 b completes one orbit every 8.19 days. Its radius of 1.27 Earth radii is larger than Earth's. Because it stays within 1.5 times Earth's radius, it falls into the Earth-like size class.
