Kepler-1575 b: A Close-In Earth-Sized World

Kepler-1575 is a star located 4070 light-years away. It is 4.17 billion years old and has a mass of 0.95 solar masses, a radius of 0.92 solar radii, and a temperature of 5670 K. One planet is known to orbit this host.

That planet is Kepler-1575 b, an Earth-like world discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1575 b completes an orbit every 2.55 days and has a radius of 1.31 Earth radii. Earth-like planets stay within 1.5 times Earth's radius, and Kepler-1575 b's reported radius estimate is larger than Earth's.
