Kepler-1565 and Its Earth-like Planet

Kepler-1565 is a star located 2050 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is estimated to be 5.62 billion years old, with a mass of 0.76 solar masses and a radius of 0.73 solar radii. Its reported temperature is 4940 K. Each of these values is smaller or cooler than the corresponding solar figure: the star's mass and radius estimates are both smaller than the Sun's, and its temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The single planet, Kepler-1565 b, was discovered in 2016 by the transit method, in which a planet passing in front of its star from our viewpoint causes a small dip in observed brightness. Repeated dips help establish the planet's orbital period. Kepler-1565 b completes one orbit in 1.54 days, and its radius is 1.19 Earth radii, larger than Earth's. That radius places it within the Earth-like size class, which covers planets up to 1.5 times Earth's radius.
