Kepler-1558 and Its Sub-Earth Planet

Kepler-1558 is a single-star system 1060 light-years away, and it hosts one known planet. The star is 4.9 billion years old, with a mass of 0.83 solar masses, a radius of 0.79 solar radii, and a temperature of 5100 K. Its reported mass and radius estimates are smaller than the Sun's, and its reported temperature is cooler than the Sun's.

The planet, Kepler-1558 b, was discovered by transit in 2016. A transit occurs when a planet passes in front of its star from our viewpoint, causing a small dip in observed brightness. Kepler-1558 b orbits every 3.5 days and has a radius of 0.68 Earth radii, smaller than Earth's, placing it in the Sub-Earth size class.
